Introduction to Reiki

Reiki is composed of two Japanese words ‘rei’ meaning universal and ‘ki’ life force energy. So the literal meaning of Reiki is Universal Life Force energy. This is the energy that pervades our entire being, our space, and our environment.

All humans, animals, birds, bees, our planet has this energy and connection. The higher the degree of connection, the greater the capability to draw and use this energy. Reiki is infinite but our connection with it is limited based on our karma and life patterns.

When a person receives Reiki attunement by a Reiki master, the person or student gets connected to the level the Master is himself/herself connected. If the Master is connected to the 108th crown chakra level, the student will also get connected at the same level. The energy channeling capacity of the student is greatly enhanced and by working consistently everyday with the energy, this connection grows stronger for the student which is then reflected in their life situations and overall wellness and wellbeing.

Reiki is a very gentle non-invasive energy which can be safely given/channeled to everyone including children, adults, older adults, and animals.

Reiki is equally effective for living and non-living things, for example you can give healing to your home, environment, difficult life situations, for new opportunities, and for overall well-being for yourself, your family, your loved ones, and all human beings and our planet Earth.

Comparison between Reiki and other healing methodologies

Reiki is a non-invasive and very gentle healing energy. One can receive Reiki healing along with other healing modalities. For patients undergoing medical or surgical interventions, Reiki can be accompanied for better results and smoother transitions. Many times, Reiki averts the need for the surgery as well.

Reiki is effortlessly utilized by other healing modalities like Karmic Healing energy, Bach flower Remedies, Crystal therapies, homeopathy and so on.

You can greatly enhance the effects of other practices by involving the Reiki energies. Sending healing to your medicines will make them more effective. Although, the goal ultimately would be to do more healing, change lifestyle, and live a life free of medicines.

For students, they can invoke Reiki energies while studying to retain more and to get good marks and access the knowledge effortlessly.

Reiki can also enhance your love life. If you are looking for a suitable partner, you can send healing to get the best and most compatible life partner. Reiki will heal that part of you and your life and soon the most appropriate partner will enter your life.

You can also send Reiki healing to your relationships so that all relationships become healed and harmonious.

These are just a few common uses in everyday life.

Why become a Reiki Healer?

Bhagavad Gita mentions this place that we live in, the material world as “duḥkhālayam aśāśvatam.” Duḥkhālayam meaning - the house of miseries, and aśāśvatam meaning - temporary. So this place we call home, the scriptures are saying, is a house of miseries.

But if you think about it for a minute, the scripture is only establishing the fact that we as a human already know and have experienced. This life is full of ups and downs, and the more we grow up in age, the more we see this to be true. There may be periods of “happiness” in-between that you experience, but mostly it is one challenge after another.

As soon as we take birth, we have to cry in order to survive. We are completely dependent on others for food and protection. If you are lucky you get good, loving, and attentive parents and extended family who take care of you well. Many do not even get that. As an infant, even if you have everything best, as per the material standards, you will still get sick, maybe get bitten by a mosquito, feel either too hot, too cold, and in all of this you do not even have the ability to communicate. And then we slowly start to grow up, truly believing that the more grown up I become, the more powerful and happy I will be.

And what exactly is happiness? Is lack of pain happiness? As humans, mostly we attribute lack of pain, where there is no immediate threat, as happiness. If you have a stable home, stable health, stable family, stable social life, and stable bank balance, most people would call you happy. And the majority of us are even struggling to get to that level of stability in our lives, relationships, health, and wealth.

And about the second word “aśāśvatam” - meaning temporary. The scriptures are telling, not only the material world is a place of misery but it is also temporary. So please do not get too comfortable. This is not a ‘forever’ home. As a human being, you have experienced, the stability we seek in our health, relationships, wealth, career, social standing is fleeting, always changing. And that is happening because the only Constant in this world is ‘Change’. That is the nature of a temporary dwelling. The occupier does not have the power to keep things the same.

So what are the chances of most of us getting a stable health, stable wealth, stable relationships, and stable cognition?

Then of course, till now we have only discussed basic survival things. We have not even touched upon the real problems of life, which is - constant cycle of birth, death, old age, and diseases. No matter how advanced our civilizations have become, all humans are still suffering birth, death, old age, and diseases. In fact, these 4 sufferings are not limited to us humans alone, but expands in everything that exists in our world. Most people do not think about these 4 great miseries in their daily lives because the noise of their problems of survival are so loud that they can hardly even look at this bigger problem looming above them all the time.

If you are a child, you are busy struggling to fit in with your friends, grow up, do well in studies and sports, If you are a young adult, you are busy trying to get the best career and profession, start earning. As you get a little older, you will also be busy finding a suitable romantic partner, after meeting whom all your loneliness and problems in life will vanish and life will be full of love and happiness!

Once you are married, you are busy adjusting your life with your partner. You are also adjusting to share your life with extended families, your in-laws. Many people at the same time are also struggling with increasing their income or wealth generation. Then comes children and then a new cycle of adjustments begins. Now not only are you busy with your own survival and maintenance, you also have the responsibility of the new little people in your life.

When do you get a break? Think about it for a minute.

Do you think there are no breaks in life? Or were you successful in identifying the breaks in your life? Would you define them as happiness? And if you believe they are, how long are they lasting?

So where does Reiki fit in-between all of this?

Reiki is the golden key that opens the door to escape the continuous cycles of birth, death, old age and disease. The Big 4s of our existence. Reiki - universal life force energy is the way out from the temporary house of miseries. And that is the great secret.

Take a few moments to reflect on that reveal. How does that make you feel? Are you jumping up and down saying “Yes! Yes! I knew it! There had to be an escape, a way out”. Or are you saying, “What a waste of time? How does that help me?” or are you saying, “hmm, I am intrigued, but I am also a little skeptical, tell me more”.

No matter which group you are in, your reactions are equally welcome and unconditionally accepted.

Reiki is the universal life force energy. The unconditional love energy. It is the golden key to escape, but as mentioned earlier, the sound of our daily needs and survival is so loud that most people are unable to have a moment of silence where they can sit peacefully and reflect on the bigger realities of their existence.

For this reason, we propagate a side effect of Reiki. A natural consequence of being connected to the universal life force - It is great for your aches and pains. It is great for your arthritis. It is great for your heart condition. It is great for your kidney disease. It is great for attracting wealth in your life. It is great for inviting loving relationships in your life. It is great for attaining beauty, success, love, acknowledgment, and respect in your life.

Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita states, “four kinds of people are seeking me, ārto jijñāsur arthārthī jñānī ca” - meaning people who are in physical distress, people who desire wealth, people who are inquisitive, and people who are actually wise.

So if you are someone who is ill or have some disease that you want to heal for yourself or others; if you are someone who wants to become rich and live a wealthier life, or if you are here because you are curious, or if you are genuinely looking for answers of human existence and your purpose in life, no matter what the original intention is, they are all equally valid reasons and equally accepted.

You can seek a Reiki connection for any reason that you like. There is no judgment and there is no filtering.

Reiki 1 connection is offered to everyone who gets in touch with us. No matter how old or young you are, how rich or poor, no matter what your health condition is, if you are willing and interested, we connect you and make you a Reiki Channel.

Everyone’s starting point is different in life, as mentioned previously, higher the connection greater the capacity to channel this energy of love and abundance. The connection we receive from birth is based on our past karma and may further deplete due to various experiences we have in the course of our life.

When you undergo an attunement with us, we once again connect you to the highest level. The next 21 days right after the attunement are of the highest importance. You are connected and flowing with energy that is beyond your karmic resonance, and that is the time you should fully immerse yourself in healing. The more healing you do in those 21 days, the greater and immediate benefits you will see in your life. You should send healing to all of your life situations and areas you want to improve and flourish in.

After 21 days, the energies slowly begin to settle into your current resonance which will be multiple times higher than the one you had prior to the initiation, and with regular healing practice you will slowly start downloading more and more of this beautiful abundant energy of love and light. The more you channel the more you will receive. You will start acting from the place of abundance, instead of the place of lack, which is the default setting in the material universe.

You will continue to be a regular person that everyone sees, but internally you will be in a different plane, and the more you heal your internal universe the changes will start reflecting in your outer universe. Now people will start noticing this change, and say, “I wonder what their secret is?”

Healing Journey

Before we move on, I want to share some stories and testimonials so that you can have a fair idea about how Reiki works in different circumstances with different people.

The names have been changed to keep the identities safe. Certain stories I have myself witnessed and healed, and some I have collected from My Spiritual Master.

Meena’s transformation. This girl came from a well-to-do family, but the parents were unable to get her married. She had been bullied as a child for her looks which had left a deep mark in her psyche. When she first came for healing, she was unsure if healing could help her, as Reiki cannot physically transform a dark and overweight girl to lighter and taller. But with Reiki her self-love increased, and she came to a point where she was able to accept that she was beautiful and worthy of all the happiness. After this inner transformation, she soon got married to a very handsome young man.

Vinay’s infidelity idea. This was a married man. His wife had been ill for some time. Most days she was bed-ridden, weak, and unwell due to which she couldn’t accompany him anywhere. Once Vinay was visiting a beautiful beach town for work and felt lonely and called to ask if we could send healing for him to have a girlfriend. We said yes, let's send healing and see what happens. After one year, Vinay was again at the seaside with his companion, his wife. The healing had cured his wife’s health so much that they had started to travel, have vacations, and enjoy couple activities like everyone else. His wife was his new girlfriend.

Ashok and alcoholism. This man in his 40s was an alcoholic. His entire family was suffering due to his addiction. His business was suffering losses due to his alcoholism which was worsening day by day. The family came for healing. First, we healed the family so that they were detached from this circumstance of their husband and father. The wife soon got a job and started earning after many years. The children completed their studies and we also sent healing for their emotional well-being. After some time, Ashok got sick with an acute illness. He was on a strict medicine regimen for a whole year, where he was unable to work but also unable to drink alcohol. After one year of sobriety, Ashok got better and is alive and healthy. He has a much better relationship with his family and is back to being a loving husband and a father. He is free from alcohol addiction.

Seema’s battle with cancer. Seema was diagnosed with breast cancer and had undergone chemo and mastectomy. She was settling into her new life, post the surgery, when she started having pain again and could feel a lump growing where the surgery had been done before. She was diagnosed with cancer again. She was very disturbed and needed healing when she came in. After a few months of receiving regular healing, on testing it was found that she was cancer free. She became a healer herself and practices healing regularly now.

Bonnie’s brain. Bonnie in her 40s suddenly started to get seizures. She would be alright one minute but would faint for hours. On examination it was found that Bonnie had a brain tumor that needed to be resected, and since the tumor size was big, a substantial amount of brain tissue will also get resected which could hamper her ability to do normal activities post the surgery. If she did not undergo surgery her life was threatened and symptoms would keep getting worse as the tumor continued to grow. Bonnie requested healing, and a group of healers sent her healing before, during, and post the surgery. It turned out, the tumor was on the outer layers of the brain so there was no need to resect deeper tissues. Bonnie’s postoperative course was free of any side effects. Bonnie is in her 60s now, still thriving, active, working, and full of life.

Neha’s career. For as long as Neha could remember she always wanted to become a teacher. Her strict father did not think teaching was the right vocation, as it paid less. He wanted to see her daughter in a powerful position in a corporate world like him. Due to parent’s pressure, Neha could not pursue teacher’s training and enrolled in some other course. After graduation, she was again confused and pursued a Masters in Psychology. After completing Master’s, she did not find any job prospects and was thinking of doing an MBA to get a foothold in the corporate world. She was confused and torn and kept delaying joining the workforce. She came in requesting healing and guidance for clarity in career. After one healing session only, Neha got the clarity that she has a nurturing nature and loves working with children. With continued healing, a few days after, Neha got the offer for her dream job. It was not a teacher but a student counselor at a prestigious school. She cracked the interview rounds and got hired swiftly. The job pays as handsomely as any corporate job. Neha loves her work and her parents are also happy with her growth.

Robin’s relationship with money. Robin is an independent consultant. He is extremely talented in his business but often does not get paid for his services. There are delays from the clients but also some hesitancy from Robin’s side to ask for big money. Robin wants to grow in business but does not know why he is not growing, in spite of being the best in his field.

He came in for a healing consultation, and we unpacked his current life situation. During the session, he got the clarity that he comes from a family line where the male heads in the family have had troublesome relationships with money. His father was an intellectual and did not care for money. His father’s brother, his uncle had lots of money, but he lived a life of excesses, which led him to a path where the uncle lost his health and family. In his old age, he was poor and lonely.

Robin could now see how what he had witnessed as a child was impacting his current life. With deeper healing Robin was able to recognize that he considered money to be evil, and that money corrupted. With continued healing, we were able to get this negative block removed and Robin’s karmic patterns were changed. Today Robin values his craft and he is able to demand the price that he deserves for his work. His business is continuing to grow.

Shikhar’s house. Shikhar was stuck in a job for years. His job did not pay him well but due to being low in confidence Shikhar was unable to ask for a raise. He had struggled to find this job so he feared that if he left this job, maybe he would not get another one. Shikar is married and recently became a father. Shikhar lived in an old house that he had inherited from his parents. Shikhar’s wife came in with a healing request. She wanted to move to a better house. We agreed to send her healing. Soon she found the perfect house but it was out of budget. They came in again with a healing request. We sent healing for Shikhar to get a job which would pay him double his current salary and additional benefits. Within a month, Shikhar got a new job that paid double his current salary and was closer to home. This cut back hours from his travel time. He is now able to spend time with his growing toddler, help his wife around the house, and be more present with the family. They are in a happier state and have dropped the idea of moving.

Divine Will

These are a handful of stories out of thousands and thousands that I have witnessed and continue to witness every day with healing. If you read the stories, you will find some peculiarities. The healing energies or Reiki is not working under me or any healer. Reiki has its own intelligence and is wiser than humans. We are encouraged to ask for anything and everything under the sun, but ultimately, we receive that which is in our highest best interest. Sometimes we are aware of our highest best interest and sometimes we are not. But whatever it may be, the healing results always moves us to a position which is more comfortable, whole and complete then where we started from.

Also, when you continue to practice healing, your wisdom chakras open up and you become wiser and naturally aligned with the highest good. So after some time, you will notice that whatever you ask, is given to you as it is, effortlessly without any changes. That happens because your thoughts, actions and desires become naturally aligned with the Divine will or Universal wisdom. You are gently moved to a position where all your basic necessities of food, shelter, security, love, and acceptance are fulfilled completely and you start living in a zone where you can now work on your finer attributes, like growing spiritually, becoming creative, healing others and so on. It’s a journey and it gets better every day and every year.

Reiki Initiation

The first thing is - you cannot start practicing Reiki just by reading a book. In order to become a Reiki Channel, you need to get an initiation from a Reiki Master.

Nowadays you may notice that people are initiating new students online without personal contact, but that is not how I was taught and that is not how it was done historically.

You need to be in the same physical space as your Reiki Master, who will then attune you to the healing energies. The master will open your chakras and connect you to Reiki.

If you plan to do Reiki with us, following is the program that we follow in our Reiki seminars:

Reiki - Level 1.

Duration - Two days

Time - 11 am to 5 pm

Mode - In-person.

Students receive: Level 1 initiation and Certificate. Healing Manuals. Detailed guidance around the methods and procedures for self-healing and healing for others.

Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided to all participants.

Follow-up review class - after 21 days (online or in-person)

Post the review class, the healer can connect weekly, where we discuss healing topics, clear doubts, provide individual guidance, and assess progress.

Reiki - Level 1 is open for all. You can register for an upcoming seminar by contacting us via phone, email, or message, and we will be happy to help.

The Reiki 2 and Reiki 3A seminars also follow the same pattern.

Between Reiki 1 and 2, we recommend a gap of at least 21 days. For Reiki 2 and above levels, the Reiki Master will review your progress and determine if you are ready for the next level.

On rare occasions, sometimes a healer who has done Reiki 1 from some other Master approaches us for Reiki 2 level. We can only accept them after a 1-1 interview and discussion. The student also needs to complete a revision course work of Reiki 1 before they can be initiated at Reiki 2 level with us.

For any levels above Reiki 2, we do not accept other Master’s students.

However, if you are in the direct lineage of Master Nalin Nirula, we will accept you at all levels.

Selecting a Reiki Master

Your relationship with your Reiki Master has to be free of judgment. Reiki is a spiritual energy and we are only conduits of this beautiful and empowering energy. If a student is planning to hop from one master to another, searching for bigger better deals, please know they will not be progressing but only slowing their progress.

Reiki does not stop by any material means but it can be halted temporarily if someone is engaged in criticizing and judging a spiritually advanced person, like your Reiki Master. This temporary blockage will be removed after cleansing reactions have taken place in the form of suffering hardships and changing of attitude. But why take that chance. Do not indulge in criticizing or gossiping about your Reiki Master or other Reiki Healers. 

Does that mean we should not call a spade a spade! You have free will and certainly you can if you want to. But it is not recommended to pass judgment from an emotional space. If you disagree with another healer, it is best to distance yourself from them instead of passing judgment.

Coming back to selecting a Reiki Master. There is a law that governs the Universe. And the law is ‘Like attracts Like’. This law prevails in every part of the universe, and selecting a Reiki Master is not outside the purview of this law.

You will be attracted to the Master that is like your internal consciousness. For example, if someone is planning to cheat, they will be cheated by going to a cheater.

So, what should a serious seeker do?

If you are planning to become a healer, cleanse your attitude, be in a state of gratitude and then search for a Reiki Master. Before enrolling for a Reiki seminar with a Master, you can do research on them. Maybe read their content, see what is happening in their lives. If you like what you see, then go ahead and enroll as a student with them.

Your Reiki Master will be your spiritual guide for life, whether you stay in touch with them or not. Choose wisely.
